Staley Farms Golf Club sits in the Northland area of Kansas City, a part of the metro that has grown steadily over the past few decades and now claims one of the stronger concentrations of public and semi-private golf in the region. The club opened in 2000 and was designed by Tom Doak, one of the most respected architects working in the modern era — a minimalist whose best work tends to follow the ground rather than fight it, favoring naturalistic shaping, bold green complexes, and holes that reward strategic thinking over raw power.
The course drew serious attention on arrival and has consistently ranked among the best public-access layouts in Missouri. Doak routed it across rolling terrain with native areas and water coming into play throughout, and the greens — characteristically complex — are where most rounds are decided. It plays as a genuine test for low handicappers while remaining engaging for mid-range players who think their way around.
Kansas City has a legitimate golf culture, with a climate that offers a real season and a regional appetite for quality parkland layouts. Staley Farms holds a meaningful place in that scene — a course that attracts destination play from well beyond the immediate area.
