Few Dallas-area private clubs carry the history that Hackberry Creek does. The club dates to 1955 and the course was designed by Ralph Plummer, the Texas architect responsible for several of the region's most respected layouts during the mid-20th century. Plummer's routing takes full advantage of the creek corridors that give the club its name, with water coming into play on a significant number of holes and lending the course a more demanding, strategic character than its suburban surroundings might suggest.
Irving sits squarely in the urban core of the Metroplex, bordered by Dallas to the east and Fort Worth to the west, and Hackberry Creek occupies a mature, tree-lined stretch of the city that has aged gracefully over seven decades. The canopy of established hardwoods frames nearly every hole, creating a sense of enclosure that separates the round from the bustle just outside the gates.
As a private members' club, Hackberry Creek maintains a competitive membership and an active tournament schedule, and the course consistently rewards precision over power — a Plummer trademark that remains as relevant today as it was at the club's founding.
