Royal Norwich

Few English county clubs carry quite the weight of history that Royal Norwich does. Founded in 1893 and granted its royal prefix in 1924, the club spent most of its existence on Hellesdon Road before undertaking one of British golf's more ambitious recent relocations — moving to a purpose-built course at Weston Park, Weston Longville, designed by Cameron Sinclair and opened in 2021. The move gave the club a permanent home on land it owns outright, ending decades of leasehold uncertainty and allowing a course built from scratch to modern standards on gently rolling Norfolk farmland.

Norfolk itself shapes the experience. The county's wide skies, open horizons, and persistent east winds are as much a part of any round here as the turf underfoot. The new layout at Weston Park was designed to sit sympathetically within its agricultural setting, with tree planting and habitat creation woven through the routing from the outset.

As one of the region's most storied clubs, Royal Norwich occupies an important place in East Anglian golf — a membership institution with genuine prestige, now finally playing on a course built to match its standing.
