One Mile Country Club takes its name from the suburb of One Mile, on the western fringe of Ipswich — a city with deep roots in Queensland's coal-mining and rail heritage, sitting about 40 kilometres southwest of Brisbane. The course occupies rolling terrain characteristic of the Ipswich hinterland, where the land rises and falls through eucalypt-tinged corridors that give it a distinctly Australian bush feel, quite removed from the manicured resort courses of the Sunshine or Gold coasts.
As a private members' club serving the Ipswich community, One Mile operates with the quiet loyalty that defines regional Queensland golf — a place where the same families have held memberships across generations, and weekend competitions carry genuine social weight. The club sits within a broader Ipswich golf scene that punches above its weight for a regional city, and members here tend to know every bounce and break intimately.
The subtropical climate means year-round play is realistic, though Queensland summers bring heat and afternoon storm risk that can make early morning tee times the preferred approach for the serious competitor.
