Hurricane sits in Washington County at the edge of Utah's Dixie region, where the Colorado Plateau breaks apart into red rock canyons, mesa formations, and high desert terrain that looks nothing like conventional golf country. The climate here is warm and dry for most of the year, making it one of the more playable corners of a state where many courses shut down for winter. St. George, just a few miles to the west, has built a genuine reputation as Utah's golf capital, and Hurricane fits naturally into that cluster of courses drawing desert enthusiasts and traveling golfers who want something visually dramatic.
The name "Links" carries certain expectations — open ground, wind exposure, firm and running turf — and the high desert setting around Hurricane can deliver on at least the spirit of that tradition, if not the coastal geography. Whether the design honors that name with genuine links-style bunkering and ground game is worth investigating on arrival.
Washington County golf tends to reward shot-making over raw distance. The red sandstone backdrop, the scrub vegetation, and the wide desert sky give any round here a sense of scale and place that a scorecard simply cannot capture.
