The North Course was originally designed by George Thomas — the same architect behind Riviera and Bel-Air — and was later refined by Gil Hanse ahead of the U.S. Open. Thomas's routing rolls across surprisingly rugged terrain for a mid-city site, with native grasses, firm turf, and demanding green complexes that reward precision over power. The par-71 layout plays shorter than its resistance suggests.

Sitting between Beverly Hills and Westwood, the club maintains a gentlemen's-era formality that feels almost defiant given its surroundings. Hollywood has always been nearby, but LACC has historically kept that world at arm's length. It remains among the most coveted and least accessible private memberships in the country.
