The Éventail Golf Club — "éventail" being the French word for fan — sits in Tochigi City, the historic castle-town capital of Tochigi Prefecture, roughly 80 kilometers north of Tokyo. The PGM (Pacific Golf Management) network operates it, one of the largest golf management companies in Japan, giving the facility the reliable conditioning and service standards that brand carries across its portfolio. The Kanto plains and the foothills rising toward Nikkō's mountains define the landscape here: open, relatively gentle terrain that gives way to tree-lined corridors, with the Tochigi countryside providing a calm, unhurried backdrop far removed from the metropolitan courses to the south.
Tochigi Prefecture has a quietly strong golf culture — the region hosts a reasonable density of courses serving both Tokyo-area travelers and local members, and the climate brings four proper seasons, including occasionally demanding late-autumn and early-spring conditions.
As a PGM-managed facility, Éventail positions itself as an accessible, well-maintained club experience rather than an exclusive private enclave — the kind of course where visiting golfers and regular members share the same comfortable infrastructure, making it a practical and pleasant choice for a day trip out of the capital.
