San Vicente Golf Club sits in the rolling inland hills of Ramona, a small ranching and wine community about 35 miles northeast of San Diego in the San Pasqual Valley corridor. This is classic Southern California backcountry — chaparral-covered hillsides, oak-dotted terrain, and a drier, warmer climate than the coastal courses most visitors associate with the region. Ramona occupies a distinct niche in San Diego County golf: far enough from the beach crowds to feel genuinely local, close enough to draw players from the city looking for something different.
The course plays as a full par 72 layout across terrain that rewards shot-making over raw power. Inland hill courses in this part of California tend to offer elevation changes, prevailing afternoon winds, and firm turf conditions that can make familiar distances play deceptively. Accuracy off the tee matters here more than it might on a flatter layout.
