Os sits on the eastern shore of Bjørnefjorden, one of the broader arms of the Hardangerfjord system south of Bergen, and the golf club here takes its name directly from that fjord. This is classic western Norwegian coastal terrain — rocky outcrops, birch and pine, and the kind of moody, shifting light that rolls in off the water. Bergen's famously wet climate means the course plays through genuine Scandinavian conditions for much of the year, but that same moisture keeps the landscape vivid green and dramatically alive. Golfers who time their round right are rewarded with fjord views that no inland course can match.
Bjørnefjorden Golfklubb is a regional club serving a community that has grown significantly as Os has become more connected to Bergen via the coastal highway. The membership is a mix of Bergen commuters and local residents who make up the backbone of the western Norwegian golf scene.
The course itself reflects the honest ambitions of a club-run layout in challenging Nordic terrain — tight in places, scenic throughout, and demanding enough that course management rewards the careful thinker over the pure ball-striker.
