Few resort courses in Hawaii carry the reputation Ko Olina Golf Club has built since Ted Robinson designed it in 1989. Set on Oahu's western leeward coast, the layout winds through the Ko Olina resort community with the Waianae Mountain Range rising to the east and the Pacific shimmering beyond the fairways. Robinson — known for his water features — threaded lakes and cascading waterfalls throughout the routing, making water a genuine strategic element rather than mere decoration.
The course has served as a regular stop on the LPGA Tour, hosting the LPGA Lotte Championship, which has brought the world's best women's professionals to these fairways and given Ko Olina a legitimate competitive pedigree. The trade winds that sweep across the leeward plain add a layer of difficulty that the numbers alone don't fully capture — club selection becomes a puzzle on nearly every approach.
Kapolei sits about 30 minutes west of Honolulu, away from the congestion of Waikiki, giving the course a more relaxed, resort-town atmosphere. Visitors staying at the adjacent Aulani or Four Seasons properties have easy access, making Ko Olina a natural anchor for any Oahu golf trip.
