Hazard Country Club

Few golf courses in America are shaped quite so literally by their geography. Hazard Country Club sits in the heart of Perry County, deep in the Kentucky coalfields, where the Daniel Boone National Forest presses in from every direction and the ridgelines of the Cumberland Plateau leave almost no flat ground to work with. Building 18 holes here was never going to produce a conventional layout, and par 68 reflects exactly that reality — this is mountain golf, Appalachian-style, where the land dictates the game far more than any architect's drawing board.

Hazard itself is a small city that has long served as the commercial hub of eastern Kentucky, a region with a distinct culture, a deep sense of place, and a pride that runs independent of what the outside world thinks of it.
