Mill Creek Golf Course sits inside Mill Creek Park, one of the great urban green spaces in northeastern Ohio — a 4,400-acre natural reserve that winds through Mahoning County and has been a civic treasure since the 1890s. Playing golf here means moving through old-growth forest, alongside creek corridors, and across terrain shaped by glacial activity long before any architect touched it. The park's landscape does most of the design work.
The course is a public facility maintained by the park system, which gives it an unpretentious, community-rooted character. Boardman is a township on the southern edge of Youngstown, and this is very much a place where locals have learned the game and kept coming back for decades. That continuity gives Mill Creek a warmth that newer, shinier facilities rarely manufacture.
The North course plays to a par 70, which typically signals a layout that rewards accuracy and course management over raw power. The mature tree cover throughout the park means errant shots are genuinely punished, and the natural contours of the land create variety that keeps the round interesting from start to finish.
