Lake Geneva has long punched above its weight as a golf destination. The resort town on Wisconsin's lakefront, about an hour north of Chicago, draws a loyal following from the northern Illinois suburbs, and its concentration of courses — ranging from classic layouts to modern resort designs — makes it one of the more compelling golf pockets in the Upper Midwest.
The name Trevino evokes one of the game's great characters, Lee Trevino, whose blue-collar grit and shot-making creativity made him a two-time U.S. Open and British Open champion. Whether the course carries any formal connection to the man himself or simply carries his name as a tribute, that association sets a certain tone — something approachable and unpretentious, built for players who actually play golf rather than just admire it.
At par 72, the layout follows a traditional structure that rewards a full range of shots across 18 holes. Lake Geneva's mix of glacially shaped terrain, mature tree cover, and genuine four-season weather swings means conditions here can shift the experience considerably depending on when you show up.
