Few private clubs in the Granite State carry the quiet authority of The Golf Club of New England. Established in Stratham in the late 1990s, the club was designed by Brad Booth and has built a devoted following among serious golfers throughout the seacoast region — a layout that rewards patience and local knowledge in equal measure.
Stratham sits in the heart of New Hampshire's seacoast corridor, just inland from the Atlantic and within easy reach of Portsmouth and Exeter. The terrain here is classically New England: glacially sculpted, with natural undulation, stands of hardwood and pine, and conditions that shift meaningfully from a warm August afternoon to a brisk October morning. That seasonal range is part of the appeal for members who play year-round until the ground simply won't allow it.
As a private club, The Golf Club of New England offers the kind of unhurried, course-first experience that's increasingly rare — firm turf, thoughtful conditioning, and a membership that takes its golf seriously without taking itself too seriously.
