Loch March

Few courses in Ottawa's western suburbs carry the reputation Loch March does. Designed by C.E. "Robbie" Robinson and opened in 1971, the course occupies a stretch of the Canadian Shield just outside Kanata, and Robinson made the most of it — routing fairways through rock outcroppings, mature hardwoods, and the kind of topography that forces you to think before you swing. It has long been considered one of the stronger private members' clubs in the National Capital Region, earning consistent recognition in national course rankings over the decades.

The Shield bedrock is the defining character here. Exposed granite shelves frame approach corridors, and the natural terrain creates elevation changes that the scorecard can never fully communicate. The back nine in particular has a drama to it that rewards local knowledge and punishes careless shot selection.

As a private club, Loch March fosters the unhurried pace and community that members' courses do best. For those lucky enough to hold a membership or secure a guest invitation, it represents some of the most distinctive parkland golf available within striking distance of Ottawa.
