Clarkesville sits in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in northeast Georgia, a corner of the state where the landscape rises and folds in ways most people don't associate with Georgia at all. Apple Mountain Resort & Golf Club takes full advantage of that terrain — elevation changes, mountain views, and a wooded setting that puts this experience firmly in the category of highland escape rather than flatland round.
As a resort course in this part of Habersham County, Apple Mountain draws a mix of weekend travelers and regional regulars who make the drive up from Atlanta, roughly 90 miles to the southwest. The north Georgia mountains attract visitors year-round, but the fall foliage season turns rounds here into something genuinely scenic — the kind of golf where you're as aware of the surroundings as the scorecard.
The par-72 layout plays over ground that rarely sits flat, so course management matters more than raw distance. Knowing when to take on a mountain slope and when to lay back tends to separate the scores here.
