Few settings in Austrian golf match what Dellach offers. The club sits on a peninsula jutting into the Wörthersee, Carinthia's largest and warmest lake, with the Karawanken mountain range rising to the south along the Slovenian border. The course occupies genuinely dramatic terrain — fairways tilting toward the water, views opening across the lake at nearly every turn — and the combination of lakeside elevation changes and mature tree cover gives it a character that photographs struggle to capture honestly.
Kärntner Golfclub Dellach is one of Austria's oldest clubs, founded in 1955, and the layout has evolved across decades to work with the peninsula's natural contours rather than flatten them. That history shows in the rhythm of the round — holes that feel grown into their surroundings rather than imposed on them. The Wörthersee region draws a sophisticated crowd in summer, and the club reflects that: well-maintained, taken seriously, but rooted in a landscape that does most of the heavy lifting.
Carinthia's summers run warmer and sunnier than much of Austria, making this corner of the country a genuine golf destination from May through October. The nearby village of Maria Wörth, with its famous lakeside church, adds to the sense that you're playing somewhere with genuine depth of place.
