Few Swedish clubs carry as much historical weight as Norrköpings GK, one of the oldest golf clubs in the country, founded in 1927. The course has evolved considerably over the decades but retains a distinctly traditional Scandinavian character — tree-lined fairways, firm and fast surfaces when the summer sun bakes the ground, and greens that reward patience over aggression. The layout sits in the broader Östergötland landscape, a region of gentle plains, forests, and lakes that gives the course a quiet, unhurried atmosphere quite different from the coastal links of southwestern Sweden.
Östergötland is often called Sweden's most historically rich province, and Norrköping itself is a city with a strong industrial heritage — once known as "Sweden's Manchester" for its textile mills — that has reinvented itself as a lively cultural centre. Golf here feels rooted in that same civic pride, the club serving generations of local members rather than chasing a tournament spotlight.
Visitors arriving from Stockholm, roughly 160 kilometres to the north, find a club that is genuinely welcoming without being showy — a serious members' course where good ball-striking is noticed and the conditions, particularly in June and July, can be as demanding as anywhere in the country.
