Few golf courses in Europe share their address with a hotel that has welcomed royalty, heads of state, and the occasional Formula 1 champion. Campo Carlo Magno sits at altitude in the Rendena Valley of Trentino, part of the grand Carlo Magno Hotel complex that has been a fixture of Alpine hospitality since the 19th century. The Dolomites rise on all sides, and playing here means navigating a layout shaped entirely by mountain terrain — elevation changes, tight corridors framed by conifers, and greens that demand precise approach play rather than power.
The par 70 configuration is no accident of geography. The mountain setting simply doesn't allow for the broad, sweeping holes of a lowland parkland course, and the design leans into that constraint. Shorter holes reward accuracy and course management, and the thin Alpine air and occasional afternoon storms keep conditions honest.
Tre Ville and the surrounding Madonna di Campiglio area is one of Italy's premier Alpine resort destinations — better known for skiing in winter, but genuinely beautiful in the summer golf season, when the meadows are green and the peaks are at their most dramatic.
