Strängnäs Golfklubb sits along the southern shore of Lake Mälaren, one of Sweden's great inland waterways, in the historic cathedral town of Strängnäs. The club has roots going back decades in Södermanland — a province that punches well above its weight in Swedish golf, with a quiet tradition of well-tended parkland courses set among forests, farmland, and the lake-riddled lowlands west of Stockholm.
The course plays through a classic Swedish parkland landscape: birch and pine framing the fairways, the terrain gently rolling in the way that characterizes this part of central Sweden. Conditions tend to be firm and fast in summer, when the long Scandinavian days allow rounds well into the evening. The proximity to Mälaren brings moisture and softer light in the mornings, and the views across the water toward the old town spires give the course a genuine sense of place that no scorecard conveys.
For golfers based in Stockholm — roughly an hour to the east — Strängnäs makes for a natural day trip, pairing serious golf with one of the most atmospheric medieval towns in Sweden.
