Yamba Golf & Country Club occupies one of the more enviable settings in Australian regional golf, perched on the headland of Yamba at the mouth of the Clarence River on the New South Wales Far North Coast. The course winds through a landscape shaped by coastal heathland, native scrub, and the ever-present Pacific influence — sea breezes are a genuine factor here, capable of turning a comfortable approach into something far more demanding. Yamba itself is a small, unhurried fishing and surf town with a loyal local character, and the golf club reflects that same spirit.
The layout takes full advantage of the elevated terrain, offering sweeping views toward the river mouth and ocean on several holes. Playing the course, you get a clear sense that the land was always meant for golf — the natural contours do much of the architectural work, and the routing feels organic rather than manufactured.
As a private members' club, access is typically extended to visiting golfers through reciprocal arrangements or by introducing member. It's the kind of place where the 19th hole conversation about what the wind cost you runs long.
