Few golf destinations in Colorado ask you to reckon so honestly with your surroundings. Divide Ranch and Club sits in the Ouray County high country outside Ridgway, a small Western Slope town where the San Juan Mountains rise in nearly every direction and the Cimarron Ridge forms a constant backdrop. At elevations this high, the air is thin, the light is sharp, and the landscape makes no concessions — ranching heritage and raw mountain terrain define the character of the place long before you reach the first tee.
The course is built on genuine ranch land, and that identity carries through the routing. Expect open, windswept stretches that recall working pasture alongside dramatic changes in elevation, native grasses, and the kind of wide-sky exposure that makes distance judgment genuinely tricky. At altitude, the ball flies farther than the yardage suggests, which flatters some players and humbles others.
Ridgway itself sits near the gateway to the San Juan Skyway, one of the most celebrated scenic drives in the American West. The golf here is very much part of that landscape — unhurried, visually overwhelming, and a long way from anywhere ordinary.
