River Hills Golf & Country Club sits in Little River, the small fishing village at the northern tip of South Carolina's Grand Strand, just across the Intracoastal Waterway from North Myrtle Beach. The area marks the quieter, less commercialized edge of one of American golf's great destination corridors — a stretch of coastline that supports well over 100 courses and draws millions of rounds annually. Little River itself retains a working-waterfront character that separates it from the resort bustle a few miles south.
Tom Jackson designed River Hills, routing it through a landscape of mature hardwoods, Carolina pines, and natural wetlands that give it a more sheltered, wooded feel than the open coastal layouts common along the Strand. Water comes into play on a significant number of holes, rewarding patience and course management over pure power. The result is a course that regulars tend to describe as one of the more thoughtful and scenic rounds in the northern Grand Strand.
As a private country club, River Hills offers its members a genuine retreat from the surrounding tourist-golf economy — a place with a neighborhood identity and consistent conditioning that belongs to its community rather than the vacation circuit.
