Askim golfklubb sits in the inland farming country of Østfold, the southeastern Norwegian county that borders Sweden along the Glomma river valley. Askim itself is a modest industrial and agricultural town, unpretentious by nature, and the club reflects that character — a genuine community course built for local golfers rather than destination visitors. The terrain here is quintessential Norwegian inland lowland: relatively flat river-plain ground interspersed with forest edges, a landscape that offers a quieter, more contemplative round than the dramatic fjord-side courses that draw international attention to Norway.
Norwegian golf has grown steadily since the 1980s and 1990s, and clubs like Askim represent the backbone of that expansion — member-driven, practically minded, and deeply rooted in their local communities. Østfold's short summers mean the season runs roughly May through October, concentrating play into long Scandinavian days where evening rounds in midsummer light are one of the genuine pleasures of golf this far north.
For visiting golfers, Askim offers an honest look at everyday Norwegian club golf, without pretense. The course is within easy reach of Moss and the wider Østfold region, and close enough to the Swedish border that it draws members from both sides.
