The course at Hrádek u Nechanic carries one of the more distinctive addresses in Central European golf — set on the grounds surrounding a neo-Gothic château of the same name, a landmark 19th-century estate commissioned by the aristocratic Harrach family and arguably the finest romantic-revival castle in Bohemia. Playing golf here means moving through a landscape of mature parkland trees, ornamental ponds, and the long sight lines of a historic English-style estate park, with the château itself visible from several points on the course. It is the kind of setting that reminds you golf and landed European estates were always natural companions.
Hradec Králové, the regional capital just a short drive away, is one of the most livable and architecturally admired cities in the Czech Republic, with a strong local sporting culture. The surrounding East Bohemian countryside is gentle and green, making for comfortable parkland conditions across most of the season.
As a private club drawing from the Hradec Králové membership base, the course plays in a quiet, unhurried atmosphere — a round here feels less like a facility visit and more like a genuinely privileged afternoon on private grounds.
