Coldwater Golf Club sits in Avondale, one of the fast-growing cities of the West Valley suburbs southwest of Phoenix, where the Sonoran Desert sets the stage for golf played under wide open skies and reliably brilliant winter sunshine. The region has quietly developed into a serious golf destination in its own right, drawing players who want the full desert experience without the Scottsdale price tag.
The Coldwater name is a knowing wink — the West Valley is anything but cold, with summer temperatures routinely pushing well past 110 degrees. Golf here is very much a morning game from June through September, but the mild season from October through April is genuinely exceptional, the kind of dry, comfortable weather that makes a 72-hole week feel effortless.
As a public-access course in a busy suburban corridor, Coldwater serves a wide community of everyday golfers and regulars who make up the backbone of the local game. A full 18-hole, par-72 layout gives players a complete test, and the flat valley terrain typical of this part of Maricopa County keeps the round accessible without sacrificing interest.
