사우스링스 영암 — South Links Yeongam — occupies a stretch of reclaimed coastal land along the southwestern tip of the Korean Peninsula, and the design concept is exactly what the name suggests: a deliberate attempt to channel the links tradition of the British Isles onto Korean soil. The course was built to host world-class motorsport's neighbors before pivoting to golf prominence, sitting adjacent to the Korea International Circuit, the Formula 1 venue that briefly put Yeongam on the global map in the early 2010s. That proximity shapes the atmosphere in an unexpected way — vast, engineered flatlands, wide horizons, and a sense of open scale that feels nothing like the mountain-and-forest parkland layouts that dominate Korean golf.

The design leans into fescue-style rough, pot bunkers, and fairways that feed and run in ways more familiar to St Andrews than to Seoul. Wind off the Yellow Sea is a constant factor and arguably the course's most important defense.

Jeollanam-do is Korea's agricultural and culinary heartland, and Yeongam itself is a quietly proud provincial county. Playing here carries a different texture from the capital-region resort scene — less polished, more purposeful, and genuinely shaped by its coastal geography.
