Murrells Inlet sits at the southern end of the Grand Strand, the 60-mile coastal stretch that has made South Carolina one of the most golf-saturated regions in the country. The town itself is better known for its saltwater marshes and seafood docks than for flashy resort development, which gives this part of the coast a quieter, less commercial feel than Myrtle Beach to the north. That low-country character — live oaks, tidal creeks, flat terrain that opens suddenly into wide sky — tends to show up in the golf courses built here.
The International Club is a full-length, par-72 layout operating in a region where golfers are genuinely spoiled for choice. The Grand Strand hosts well over 100 courses, ranging from high-end resort tracks to workhorse daily-fee venues that cater to the area's enormous volume of golf tourists and seasonal residents. A course in this market has to earn its place in a rotation where the competition is relentless.
Without records on the designer or any signature design features, what can be said with confidence is that a round here puts you in genuine low-country terrain, where the flatness of the coastal plain is offset by water, wetland edges, and the particular humidity and warmth that make Myrtle Beach-area golf a winter and spring destination for players escaping colder climates up the Eastern Seaboard.
