Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed The Classics Course at Lely Resort, and the pedigree shows in every routing decision. Opened in the late 1980s as part of Lely's ambitious resort development in south Naples, it carries the hallmarks Jones made famous over a career that stretched across six decades: strategic bunkering, generous but contoured fairways, and greens that reward precise approach angles far more than raw power. It's a layout that thinks, and it asks you to think with it.
Naples sits at the edge of southwest Florida's golf corridor, where the flat subtropical terrain gets shaped into something more interesting by design rather than topography. Water is the great equalizer here — the same abundant lakes and wetlands that define the region's landscape appear throughout the course as both hazard and visual anchor, giving the round a distinctive Florida character.
As a private members' club within the broader Lely Resort community, The Classics offers a quieter, more deliberate experience than the resort's public-access courses. Access is earned through membership, and the course rewards those who learn its rhythms over time.
