Claviere sits at the top of the Montgenevre pass in the Cottian Alps, right on the French-Italian border — one of the highest golf outposts in the Alps, where the air is thin, the light is extraordinary, and the mountains form a wall of granite and snowfield on every side. The village itself is a small ski resort, and the course shares its calendar with winter: the season is short, compressed into the warmer months when the high-alpine meadows finally clear.
