Few courses on the Delmarva Peninsula can match the sheer spectacle of what Arthur Hills designed here at the edge of Sinepuxent Bay. Opened in 2000, The Links at Lighthouse Sound was built on a narrow spit of land where the coastal marsh meets open water, giving the back nine in particular a genuine links feel — firm, windswept, and unforgiving when the breeze comes off the Atlantic. Hills routed the course to maximize water exposure while keeping the layout walkable and rhythmic, and the result is one of the most visually dramatic public-access courses in the mid-Atlantic region.
The setting just outside Ocean City puts it squarely in one of the East Coast's most active resort corridors, yet the course itself feels removed from the boardwalk chaos. Cordgrass, tidal flats, and sweeping bay views define the atmosphere rather than manicured hedgerows, and the wind is effectively a permanent extra club in every bag.
For visitors making their way through Ocean City's golf circuit, this is the round that tends to linger longest — less about the scorecard than about playing at the literal edge of the land.
