あららぎカントリークラブ occupies a mountainous stretch of Achi Village, deep in the Ina Valley of southern Nagano Prefecture. The course takes its name from the Araragi district, a remote highland community that sits along the Hirugami Gorge — one of the most scenic river corridors in the Southern Alps region. At this elevation, the air is thin and clear, the fairways dry and fast in summer, and the season compresses sharply at either end of the calendar, making every round feel like a deliberate escape from the lowland heat below.
Achi Village is better known to Japanese travelers for its onsen and its reputation as one of the country's premier stargazing destinations, a reminder of just how far from urban light and noise this course sits. Golf here comes packaged with that same sense of seclusion — mountain ridges frame virtually every hole, and the course moves naturally with the contours of the hillside terrain rather than fighting them.
For visitors combining a round with a stay in the Hirugami hot-spring district, the course offers a satisfying contrast: wooded, elevation-changed mountain golf that rewards patience and local knowledge over raw power.
