St. Marys is one of southwestern Ontario's most quietly distinctive small towns — a limestone-built community along the Thames River that has punched well above its weight in terms of heritage and civic pride. The surrounding countryside is classic southern Ontario farmland: gently rolling, open, and honest, the kind of terrain that lends itself naturally to a country club layout where the land does most of the talking.
Science Hill Country Club sits within that tradition of small-town Ontario private golf — a members' club that exists primarily to serve a tight community of locals rather than to attract outside attention. These clubs tend to be unpretentious and genuinely welcoming within their membership, built on decades of Saturday morning foursomes, club championships, and the kind of institutional memory that only comes from generations playing the same holes.
St. Marys itself is perhaps best known as the birthplace of hockey legend Howie Morenz, and the town carries a real sense of its own story. A round at Science Hill Country Club is really an extension of that — golf as a local ritual as much as a sport.
