Few golf operations in Central Florida carry the footprint — or the ambition — of Orange County National. Spread across more than 1,400 acres west of Orlando, this facility runs 2 separate 18-hole championship courses (Panther Lake and Crooked Cat), a sprawling short-game academy, and on-site lodge accommodations, making it one of the largest golf complexes in the southeastern United States. It has long served as a Tour qualifying site and a serious practice destination for professionals, and the range and instruction facilities draw players from across the region year-round.
The courses themselves play through the characteristic Central Florida landscape — open stretches of scrub and wetland punctuated by water on nearly every hole — which means wind and course management matter far more than raw power. Neither layout is a pushover, and the conditioning has historically been a point of pride for a public-access facility operating at this scale.
Winter Garden sits just west of the Orlando metro, where the flat terrain and subtropical climate mean golf is genuinely playable 12 months a year. For visiting players or locals looking for a serious but accessible round, Orange County National punches well above the municipal-facility average.
