Few mountain golf experiences carry the pedigree of Beaver Creek Golf Club. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1981, the course sits within the Beaver Creek Resort village at roughly 8,000 feet of elevation, making it one of the higher-altitude resort layouts in the Colorado Rockies. The thin air means every shot flies noticeably farther than at sea level, which flatters the ego on long irons but demands careful thinking around a par 70 that plays far more demanding than its number suggests. Jones Jr. routed the course through dense stands of aspen and pine along the valley floor and lower mountain slopes, producing a layout where accuracy off the tee matters far more than raw distance.
Beaver Creek Resort itself is one of Colorado's premier ski and luxury destinations, and the golf club carries that same upscale character into the warmer months. The surrounding Vail Valley draws serious visitors year-round, and the course serves as a centerpiece of the resort's summer programming.
The season runs short at this altitude — typically late May through mid-October — so tee times feel genuinely precious. The backdrop of the White River National Forest and the jagged Gore Range gives every round a scale that few courses at any elevation can match.
