Few golf courses in America ask as much of your lungs as your swing. Perched at elevation in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado, Telluride Ski & Golf Club sits in one of the most dramatically beautiful — and genuinely remote — settings in the game. The thin air means every shot carries farther than you'd expect, which is just as well, because the terrain here is not forgiving. Mountain golf at this altitude is a different sport from what most players experience on flatter ground.
Telluride itself is a former silver-mining boomtown that became one of Colorado's premier ski resorts, and the golf course shares that dual identity — a warm-weather complement to world-class winter terrain. The surrounding box canyon walls and dense aspen groves define the visual experience, with the peaks of the San Juans framing virtually every hole.
The par-70 layout reflects the realities of mountain terrain — you won't find the long, open parkland stretches of a lowland course here. What you will find is a round that rewards creativity, course management, and an honest appreciation for where you are.
