Vaul

Few places on earth position a golf course quite like Tiree does. This small Hebridean island sits roughly 50 miles off the west coast of Scotland, exposed to the full sweep of the Atlantic, and it holds the unlikely distinction of being one of the sunniest places in the entire UK — yet also one of the windiest. The wind here isn't a variable; it's a permanent playing partner, reshaping the effective length and difficulty of every hole on every visit.

Vaul sits on ground shaped by the island itself: low-lying machair — the rare, wildflower-rich coastal grassland found only on the Atlantic fringe of Scotland and Ireland — alongside dune terrain that gives the layout a linksland character rooted in something ancient and genuinely wild. Golf in this setting is stripped back to its oldest essentials: turf, wind, sky, and the sea never far from view.

Tiree has a resident population of under 700 people, and reaching the island means either a ferry crossing or a short flight from Glasgow. That remoteness is entirely the point. Playing Vaul is less a round of golf than a deliberate act of going somewhere.
