Few private clubs in the Deep South carry the institutional weight of Capital City Country Club. One of Tallahassee's oldest and most storied members' clubs, it has long served as the social and sporting center of Florida's political capital — a place where legislators, lobbyists, and longtime Tallahassee families have shared fairways for generations. That civic identity is woven into the fabric of the place in a way no newer club can manufacture.
Tallahassee occupies a different Florida than the beaches and flatlands most visitors picture. The city sits in the Red Hills region, where the terrain rolls unexpectedly through stands of longleaf pine and live oak draped in Spanish moss — terrain that gives a golf course genuine elevation change and a sense of seclusion rare for the state. Capital City takes full advantage of that landscape, offering a round that feels more like Georgia hill country than the peninsula courses Florida is typically known for.
As a private members' club, the experience here is unhurried and traditional — the kind of golf where knowing a member matters, and where the culture of the club is as much a part of the day as the round itself.
