Few golf destinations in Hawaii sit quite like Hoakalei Country Club, occupying the Ewa Plain on Oahu's west side — a stretch of coastline that has transformed dramatically over the past 2 decades from sugar cane fields and salt flats into one of the island's most ambitious residential and resort developments. The course is the centerpiece of that community, and playing it means experiencing a side of Oahu that most visitors never reach, well removed from the tourist corridors of Waikiki and the North Shore.
The Ewa Beach area offers a drier, sunnier climate than much of the island, with reliable trade winds sweeping in off the Pearl Harbor lagoon and the broader Pacific — conditions that keep the turf firm and fast and turn club selection into a genuine conversation on nearly every hole. The western mountains of the Waianae Range form a dramatic backdrop, particularly in the late afternoon when the light turns the ridgelines a deep volcanic red.
