Mill River Golf Course

Few places in Canada reward a round of golf quite like Prince Edward Island, and Mill River has long been one of the province's flagship layouts. Designed by C.E. "Robbie" Robinson and opened in 1970, the course sits within Mill River Provincial Park in the western end of the island — a part of PEI that feels quieter and more rural than the tourist bustle near Charlottetown. Robinson, one of Canada's most prolific golf architects, routed the course through a landscape of mature forest and alongside the Mill River estuary, giving it a natural intimacy that more manufactured resort tracks rarely achieve.

The course has hosted numerous Golf PEI events and earned a strong regional reputation, consistently ranking among the top public-access layouts in Atlantic Canada. The routing makes excellent use of elevation change — rare on an island many outsiders assume is entirely flat — and water comes into play on several holes, keeping mid-round complacency honest.

As a resort destination, Mill River pairs golf with on-site accommodation and recreational facilities, drawing visitors who use it as a base for exploring western PEI. The surrounding park and estuary give the whole experience a relaxed, unhurried character that suits the island's pace perfectly.
