Fazio routed the layout across wildly varied topography, which means almost no 2 holes feel alike. Elevation changes are significant, views extend to the Santa Lucia Mountains, and the native grasses and preserved oak woodland give the course a raw, almost untouched quality that sets it apart from manicured resort design. The land itself does most of the talking.

Because the course sits within a conservation preserve, access is genuinely exclusive — this is golf as private sanctuary, shared among a small membership for whom the surrounding 20,000 acres of protected wilderness is very much part of the experience.
