Powell sits in Delaware County just north of Columbus, where the suburbs thin out into horse farms and the Scioto River watershed shapes the rolling terrain. This part of central Ohio has quietly become one of the stronger private golf corridors in the state, with several well-regarded clubs within a short drive of one another.
Scioto Reserve is a members-only club whose name carries a double resonance — drawing on both the Scioto River that defines so much of this landscape and the sense of retreat that the best private clubs provide. Without the river's influence, the ground here tends toward the gently contoured, tree-lined character typical of inland Ohio, where mature hardwoods frame fairways and seasonal weather swings mean the course plays meaningfully different in spring's soft conditions versus the firmer, faster turf of late summer.
As a private club in an affluent and growing suburb, Scioto Reserve reflects the expectations of a serious membership — maintained to a high standard and oriented toward the kind of unhurried, member-focused round that public golf rarely offers.
