Perdido Bay Golf Club sits in the far western corner of Florida's Panhandle, where the landscape starts to feel more Alabama than anything most people picture when they hear "Florida golf." This is pine-and-sand country — longleaf forest, red-clay soil, and a pace of life that reflects the working-class fishing and military culture of the greater Pensacola area. The course takes its name from Perdido Bay, the brackish estuary that forms the state line between Florida and Alabama just a few miles west.
The Panhandle's golf scene tends toward the unpretentious — serious players who know the game and don't need a chandelier in the clubhouse to enjoy their round. The region's terrain, with its sandy subsoil and natural pine canopy, lends itself to courses that reward shot-shaping and course management over pure power.
As a par 72 layout in a region that sees warm, humid summers and mild winters, Perdido Bay offers year-round play with the kind of straightforward, regional character that regulars tend to develop a quiet loyalty to.
