Hermosillo sits in the heart of the Sonoran Desert, one of North America's most striking and demanding landscapes — where summer temperatures regularly push past 110°F and the surrounding terrain is a mosaic of saguaro cactus, ironwood, and volcanic rock. Golf here is a different proposition than almost anywhere else in Mexico, and Los Lagos is a product of that environment, built around the water features that give the club its name and that provide a genuine visual and strategic counterpoint to the arid scrub pressing in from every side.
Los Lagos serves as one of Hermosillo's primary private club experiences, drawing the city's business and social community and functioning as a genuine gathering place rather than just a layout. The Sonoran capital is a major industrial and commercial hub — home to a large Ford assembly plant and a growing professional class — and the club reflects that urban confidence.
Playing golf in the desert Southwest, even on the Mexican side of the border, demands respect for the heat and the rough. Miss the fairway here and the desert reclaims the ball quickly. The course rewards local knowledge and patience over power.
