Longcliffe Golf Club has been one of Leicestershire's most respected members' clubs since its founding in the early 20th century, sitting on high ground above Loughborough with views that stretch across the county. The course was laid out on genuine heathland terrain — heather, gorse, and fine turf — and that character has been carefully preserved over the decades, giving it a feel that belongs more to the Surrey heaths than the Midlands heartland most visitors might expect.
The layout plays across undulating ground where position off the tee consistently matters more than raw power, and the heathland rough is punishing enough to demand accuracy without feeling unfair. Par 73 hints at a course that doesn't rely on length alone to test you — there's likely a longer par 5 or an extra par 3 working in the mix, and the routing uses the natural contours to keep the round varied throughout.
Loughborough sits at the northern edge of Leicestershire, a university town with a strong sporting culture. Longcliffe represents the serious, traditional end of the local golf scene — a proper members' club where course conditions and competitive golf are taken seriously.
