Designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1926, it stands as one of his rare Colorado commissions — and one of the few Ross designs operating as a public municipal course anywhere in the country. The course was built on the grounds of the former Wellshire Country Club, and its tree-lined fairways, subtle crowned greens, and strategic bunkering carry the unmistakable fingerprints of the master from Dornoch. Playing to a par 70, it rewards shot-making and course management over raw distance.
Denver's high-altitude sunshine means the ball flies farther than golfers accustomed to sea level expect, and the Front Range setting gives the whole round a distinctly Colorado character — big sky, dry air, and mountain views drifting in and out of the background.
