Shaoxing is one of eastern China's most historically layered cities — a place of ancient waterways, rice wine, and literati culture that has shaped Zhejiang's identity for more than 2,500 years. The city sits on the Shaoxing Plain south of Hangzhou Bay, where the terrain softens into a mosaic of lakes, canals, and low hills typical of the Yangtze River Delta. It's a region where water defines everything, and Jianhu — Mirror Lake — is perhaps Shaoxing's most celebrated natural landmark, a reservoir dating to the Eastern Han dynasty that lent the area an enduring poetic character.
鉴湖高尔夫 (Jianhu Golf Club) takes its name and identity directly from that storied lake setting, placing the course within a landscape of considerable scenic weight. Water features prominently in both the terrain and the visual experience here, and the flat-to-gently-rolling delta geography shapes a layout that rewards accuracy and course management over raw power.
For visiting golfers, the appeal is as much about place as it is about the round itself. Playing within reach of one of China's great ancient cities — with West Lake Hangzhou just an hour away — gives Jianhu Golf Club a cultural backdrop that few courses in the region can match.
