Golfclub Anderstein

Golfclub Anderstein occupies the grounds of the Anderstein estate in Maarsbergen, a small village in the Utrecht Hills — the Utrechtse Heuvelrug — a ridge of forested glacial moraines that cuts through the center of the Netherlands. This is one of the few genuinely hilly stretches of Dutch landscape, and the course makes full use of it. Unlike the flat polder courses that define golf in much of the country, Anderstein plays through mature woodland, with elevation changes that feel almost surprising to anyone used to the Netherlands' reputation for unrelenting flatness.

The estate setting lends the club a sense of age and quiet prestige. The forest of oak, beech, and pine frames almost every hole, creating strong definition and a genuine sense of seclusion from the surrounding countryside. It plays as a members' club with that characteristic Dutch emphasis on course conditioning and unhurried pace.

The Utrechtse Heuvelrug is one of the most desirable corners of the Netherlands — close to Utrecht and easily reached from Amsterdam — and Anderstein sits comfortably among the region's better woodland layouts.
