Tarpon Springs carries a character unlike most of coastal Florida — a working Greek fishing village turned artisan community, sitting on the Anclote River where the Gulf Coast exhales into a maze of inlets, bayous, and brackish marsh. Cypress Run Golf Club takes its name and its atmosphere from this landscape: the slow-water cypress strands and subtropical hammocks that define Pinellas and Pasco County terrain are a world away from the manicured resort corridors of Orlando or the beach-town courses further south on the Gulf.
Without claiming specifics the scorecard alone can't confirm, Cypress Run reads as a private or semi-private club in the classic Florida mold — a layout where heat, humidity, and the ever-present threat of afternoon thunder shape the rhythm of play as much as any bunker or dogleg. Water comes standard in this part of the state, and the native vegetation does real work framing shots.
Tarpon Springs is an underrated base for golf in the Tampa Bay region, close enough to the metro amenities but genuinely local in feel. A round here puts you well outside the tourist circuit.
