Garland Resort has been one of northern Michigan's most beloved golf destinations since the 1960s, and the Fountains course is among the quartet of 18-hole layouts spread across its sprawling property in Otsego County. The resort built its reputation on offering serious golf in a genuine wilderness setting, and Fountains — despite its more approachable character relative to Garland's other tracks — fits that tradition. The design works through stands of hardwood and pine, with the terrain and tree corridors doing much of the work in shaping the routing and keeping approach angles honest.
Lewiston sits in the heart of the northern Lower Peninsula, a region defined by clear-water lakes, dense forest, and the kind of shoulder-season golf weather that makes early fall rounds particularly memorable. The area draws outdoor enthusiasts year-round, and Garland has long served as the anchor for golf-focused stays in this corner of the state.
As a full resort experience, Fountains pairs well with the property's other courses, making Garland a natural destination for multi-day trips where variety is the point.
